Restrooms closed for construction at two popular trailheads near Sedona
Coconino National Forest officials have started improving access to existing restrooms at two popular trailheads on the Red Rock Ranger District.

This includes the Bell Rock Vista and Courthouse Butte trailhead parking areas located north of the Village of Oak Creek along State Route 179.

Agencies release threatened frogs near Payson, Camp Verde
The Arizona wilderness became a bit more populated with native frogs this week thanks to a team of biologists from the Arizona Game and Fish Department, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, and the Phoenix Zoo's Conservation Center.

Extreme birding in southeastern Arizona part II - Birding in paradise
On Tuesday, I began my day by visiting the Sierra Vista Environmental Operations Park - a fancy name for its wastewater facility. It may sound strange to purposefully go to a sewage pond to bird, but in the desert, where there is water, there are birds. I added several species to my trip list, including both yellow-headed and red-winged blackbirds, lazuli bunting, American coot and common moorhen.

Last week I made a quick dash to my favorite birding destination - the Sky Islands of Southeastern Arizona. The purpose of my trip was to hand-deliver a new style of hummingbird feeder to birding lodges and bed and breakfast facilities catering to birders.
